Old Bangor - Opening of The Pier

The pier was opened on 14 May, 1886 by Lord Penrhyn. It was Ascension Day so the Penrhyn Quarry was closed as per a long standing tradition and many workmen and their families travelled to Bangor to witness the opening ceremony.
